Oceanside, Calif. – Two individuals were arrested for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol and 15 drivers were cited for either driving on a suspended license or driving without a license, while conducting a DUI checkpoint on November 05, 2021.
The checkpoint was held in the 2500 block of Oceanside Blvd from 7:30 PM till Midnight. A total of 1017 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
As businesses continue to reopen, including bars and restaurants, impaired driving remains a top traffic safety concern.
The Oceanside Police Department will hold another DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint March 2022.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
