SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Set to return to action after sitting out the 2020-21 season, Cal State San Marcos men’s basketball head coach B.J. Foster announced the team’s 2021-22 schedule on Wednesday.
“We are all excited about our return to play after nearly 20 months since our last game,” Foster said. “There is a lot of enthusiasm in our locker room, and we have a very competitive schedule that will test our guys this year.”
The Cougars will begin the season by hosting the CSUSM Hoops Classic at The Sports Center on Nov. 12-13. CSUSM will open its season against Montana State Billings on Nov. 12 before concluding the event with Saint Martin’s on Nov. 13.
After the CSUSM Hoops Classic, CSUSM and MSUB will play each other a second time on Nov. 15. The Cougars will then wrap up their non-conference schedule on Nov. 20 by hosting Point Loma.
CSUSM will begin CCAA play by hosting Cal State LA on Nov. 27. Continuing its long stretch of home games, the Cougars will face Cal State Dominguez Hills on Dec. 2 before finally playing its final home game of the calendar year against Cal State East Bay on Dec. 4.
Prior to the winter break, the Cougars will hit the road for the first time by traveling to Cal State Monterey Bay on Dec. 9 before ending the weekend at San Francisco State on Dec. 11.
CSUSM will begin 2022 on the road at Cal State LA on Jan. 2. The Cougars will return to The Sports Center on Jan. 6 and 8 to host Humboldt State and Sonoma State before beginning a four-game road trip.
On Jan. 13 and 15, CSUSM will travel to Chico State and Stanislaus State before heading to Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino on Jan. 20 and 22.
CSUSM will conclude the month of January by hosting San Francisco State on Jan. 27 and Cal State Monterey Bay on Jan. 29.
The Cougars will open February on the road at Cal State East Bay on Feb. 3 and at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Feb. 5.
CSUSM will return to The Sports Center for its final four home games of the regular season when it hosts Cal State San Bernardino (Feb. 10), Cal Poly Pomona (Feb. 12), Stanislaus State (Feb. 17) and Chico State (Feb. 19).
The Cougars will wrap up the regular season on the road at Sonoma State on Feb. 24 and at Humboldt State on Feb. 26.
Should CSUSM qualify be one of the top six teams in the conference at the end of the regular season, it’ll travel back to Arcata for the 2021-22 CCAA Tournament on March 3-5 at Lumberjack Arena.
