The Boys & Girls Club of Vista is part of a larger national organization, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). There are eight separate independent organizations in San Diego County. We do not receive most funding from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. This is a misconception that I hear occasionally around town. Each local Boys & Girls Club is solely responsible for raising its operating budget and paying the national headquarters an annual fee for membership and for external safety assessments. In return, we receive professional development, marketing, and some pass-through dollars through corporate sponsorships and pass-through federal grants- it’s approximately $30,000 a year. Our annual budget is $2M a year. That means we must do a lot of work together to keep this mission moving forward. We’re a scrappy bunch of caring people who want kids to have a safe and positive place to thrive during out-of-school hours. Times are tough for everyone, but the Vista community hasn’t let us down for over 63 years! We welcome more families and supporters to our team! We need you, as more kids need great futures!
