When the first Continental Congress met in 1774, they could not in their wildest dreams have envisioned our nation as it is today. Through the establshment of the Continental Army and Navy, the signing of the Declaration of Independence, drafting the Articles of Confederation and finally codifying our existing Constitution, no nation in the world has come as far as the United States. No nation has shed more blood in the name of freedom, either its own or that of others.

The glory of our Republic has stood many tests, and will continue to do so for a very long time. Today, let us stand together and celebrate where we live and unified under the banner of freedom for which 1.2 million men and women made the ultimate sacrifice.

“American citizen” is a title which is coveted by billions. Today, wish your family, friends, and neighbors a happy 4th and let us come together in our common bond as residents of this great nation.
