Crozier’s Flowers, a long-time staple on Main St. in Historic Downtown Vista will soon have a new name on the outside of the business according to new owners Liz and Ben Rowe. The new name for the floral shop is Color Story Florals. The shop was opened in 1959 by Bob Crozier and has been a go to for every occasion where beautiful flower arrangements are needed. Ben said they will continue this kind of service to those who enter the shop but will be adding a number of changes to what they offer.
Color Story Florals is now offering rental space for any groups who would like a beautifully decorated place for birthday parties, bridal showers and any other group gathering. Ben said they also plan on bringing back workshops for interested individuals, workshops like Potting Techniques, Flowers and Friends and other classes in floral arrangements. He said their team of four plus two interns are well schooled in flowers, arrangements and floral design and will provide a wealth of knowledge to those that sign-up. Another idea Ben is putting together is the possibility of starting a Friday Night Food Truck event once a month in the adjoining parking lot and tying that into activities they might begin in the shoppe. This is in the planning stages with applications, presentations to the city and contact of neighboring businesses still to go through. They are also planning on trying to get together with Handel’s Ice Cream for some type of event around Halloween.
Color Story Florals uses 80% California local flowers in an effort to try and keep the price of flower arrangements down to customers. Ben said the tariffs are having an effect driving up the price of flowers that are grown outside of the United States. He said they have made donations to VisTAY House in Vista, a transitional home for homeless youth.
Ben said they want to become more active in the Vista scene and hope some of these plans will begin as soon as possible.
