Save Oceanside Sand (SOS) and Resilient Cities Catalyst are hosting a celebration of Oceanside’s efforts to restore and protect its beaches. The event will debut the BBC mini-documentary showcasing the community-driven RE:BEACH Pilot Project, which recently received a $1.8 million grant from the California Coastal Commission and was also approved as SANDAG’s Regional Sand Retention Pilot Project. There will also be a panel discussion on advancing high-impact coastal resilience projects in California. Reception, networking and refreshments to follow. SOS is the local grassroots, community advocacy nonprofit organization that prompted the City of Oceanside to begin sustainably restoring its beaches. Recently, SOS was honored with a “Heroes of Oceanside & Camp Pendleton” award from the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce. SOS is the only community nonprofit organization advocating for sustainable beach restoration in San Diego County.
