OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The California School Boards Association (CSBA) has selected the Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD) as a recipient of the 2025 Golden Bell Award in the category of Career Technical Education (CTE) Program. The award recognizes OUSD’s innovative and comprehensive approach to preparing students for college, career, and life through hands-on, industry-connected learning.
The Golden Bell Awards, now in their 45th year, celebrate outstanding programs and governance practices that promote equity and excellence in education across California’s public schools. OUSD’s CTE program stood out for its success in expanding access to high-quality career pathways, building strong community and industry partnerships, and creating real-world learning experiences that engage students and boost achievement.
“This award is a reflection of our district’s commitment to ensuring every student graduates with both a diploma and a direction,” said Superintendent Dr. Julie Vitale. “Our CTE program opens doors for students by connecting classroom learning with practical skills and career opportunities that set them up for future success.”
OUSD offers more than a dozen CTE pathways across its high schools, including cybersecurity, health science, engineering, and information technology. The district’s focus on collaboration between educators and local business leaders has strengthened career readiness opportunities and led to measurable increases in student engagement, certifications, and postsecondary enrollment.
