About the Kiwanis Escondido Charity Fishing Derby
It is a family-friendly event attended by more than 2,000 people every year, just before Thanksgiving. All proceeds from the event go towards supporting school children of Escondido, most of whom come from low-income families. Kiwanis Escondido is a 100-year-old organization whose volunteers serve the local community through school leadership clubs and story-reading sessions (Website: https://kce-hv.org/).

Location: Dixon Lake, Escondido
Highlights:
Free Kiddie Pond – Every year, more than 300 kids catch their first fish at the Escondido Charity Fishing Derby. Senior anglers guide them, and they are guaranteed to catch a fish.
Dixon Lake was newly stocked with 4,500 pounds of rainbow trout just before the event.
Prizes for catching the biggest fish for adults and juniors
