A New Landmark is Emerging in Downtown Oceanside! Ribbon Cutting Ceremony — You’re Invited!

Hello Oceanside,
A vibrant new piece of public art is coming to life in the Oceanside Transit Center Pedestrian Tunnel — and we’re excited to share that Oceanside Odyssey by local artist Jon Hamrick and team is nearing completion!
Earlier this year, more than 3,650 community members voted for their favorite design through the Art that Excites Program. Your voices selected Oceanside Odyssey as the winning mural, and Hamrick and his team have been hard at work transforming the pedestrian tunnel into a colorful, welcoming gateway to Downtown Oceanside. The tunnel has remained open throughout installation with temporary signage.
This project is a joint effort between North County Transit District, Caltrans, and MainStreet Oceanside’s Art that Excites Program, honoring Oceanside’s culture and rich history while enhancing the transit experience for riders. In addition to the mural, the project includes new safety features such as cameras and speakers to support a safer, more comfortable environment.
We are proud to share that the project was funded in part by a $144,000 Clean California Local Grant, part of a statewide initiative that has helped bring more than 640 pieces of public art to communities across California.
