Following the holiday season, Vista residents are encouraged to recycle their Christmas trees through curbside collection or designated drop-off locations, according to EDCO.

Curbside Christmas Tree Recycling

Residents with curbside service may recycle natural Christmas trees using their green organics cart on their regular collection day. Before setting out a tree for collection, please follow these guidelines:

Remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel, and tree stands
No flocked trees (artificial snow is not accepted)
Cut the tree into 4-foot lengths and trim off branches
Place the trimmed tree inside the green organics cart with the lid fully closed

Botanical decorations, such as wreaths and garlands (without decorations), may also be placed in the green organics cart.

Christmas Tree Drop-Off Locations

For residents who prefer to drop off their tree, free Christmas tree recycling sites will be available from December 26, 2025, through January 9, 2026, at the following locations:

Vacant lot at Vale Terrace Drive and Williamston Street
Parking lot at the corner of S. Melrose Drive and Shadowridge Drive

These drop-off locations are for Christmas trees only. Trees do not need to be cut for recycling at drop-off sites. Please remove all decorations before dropping off your tree.

Apartments and Condominiums

Residents living in apartment or condominium communities should contact their leasing or property management office for specific Christmas tree recycling instructions, as procedures may vary by property.

Recycling Christmas trees helps divert organic waste from landfills and supports local composting efforts. Residents are encouraged to choose the option that works best for their household and recycle responsibly once the holidays conclude.
