On November 5, 2025, an adult male who gave a fictitious name of “Hector Zeroni” confronted two juveniles fishing in a pond on private property near the intersection of Valley Center Road and Irish Oaks Road in Valley Center. The suspect brandished a knife and chased the juveniles.
During the incident, the suspect destroyed a fishing pole belonging to one of the juveniles and slashed all four tires on the juvenile’s vehicle.
Detectives sought the public’s help in identifying the wanted suspect. With the help of San Diego County Crime Stoppers, many leads were received on this case.
On January 13, 2026, using the leads from the community through the Crime Stoppers process, 27-year-old Jaymes Martinez was arrested on a warrant for two counts of displaying a weapon in a threatening manner and one count of vandalism.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for the numerous tips that were received, which ultimately assisted investigators in positively identifying Martinez as the suspect.
