Potential Deadly Force By Police officers Averted
On Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 9:12 PM, Officers responded to a radio call of a suspect brandishing a large set of gardening shears in the 300 block of Foussat Rd. After contacting the reporting party and determining the suspect was no longer in possession of the shears, officers attempted to contact the suspect in a garage. While officers stood outside the locked interior of the garage, the suspect Juan Santos 41 years of age, abruptly opened the door and drew an object resembling a handgun, pointing it at the officers. A taser was successfully deployed and the suspect was detained inside the garage. After determining that the object was actually a power drill, Santos was evaluated and taken into custody for being under the influence of narcotics.
