On Thursday, March 12, 2026, detectives from the Vista Sheriff’s Station served a residential search warrant in the 2700 block of College Blvd. in the City of Oceanside. The warrant service was conducted as part of an ongoing burglary investigation.
During the search of the residence, detectives located and seized multiple illegal items and evidence. These items included a Privately Manufactured Firearm (PMF) assault rifle, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun,” high-capacity magazines and ammunition, body armor, narcotics, and stolen property related to the burglary investigation.
Following the execution of the search warrant, two individuals were taken into custody at the scene without incident. Johnathan Perez (DOB: 04/24/1987) was arrested and charged with burglary, alongside other theft-related offenses. Michael Renteria (DOB: 02/20/1994) was arrested and charged with numerous weapons violations, including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Both subjects were booked into the Vista Detention Facility. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
