CSUSM Athletics Cougar Tracks – March 2026

We’re halfway through the spring semester and things are heating up around CSUSM Athletics.

Softball got off to a hot start, claiming No. 1 in the NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll for back-to-back weeks and winning a program-best 20 games in a row.

Baseball had similar success, starting the season at 14-5, its best start in program history. The Cougar went 13-2 during their non-conference schedule and received Top 25 votes the past few weeks.

Track & field is also off to a great start this season, already claiming four CCAA Track Athlete of the Week honors and one Field Athlete of the Week award. It’ll be hosting the annual Mangrum Invitational on Friday, March 27, beginning at 10 a.m. It’ll be a long meet, so hopefully you can find some time during the day to come cheer on our Cougars.

Both of our golf teams are making their way through their spring season. The women’s team won the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational last week and the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout in late February. So far in 2025-26, four members of the women’s team have earned CCAA Golfer of the Week honors.

I want to congratulate men’s basketball on a successful first season under Head Coach Brady Bergeson. The Cougars made it to the CCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2022-23 season, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store next year.

I want to close by mentioning our scholarship campaign for men’s and women’s basketball. A matching gift of $68,000 is now in play from a generous donor, meaning every dollar you give will be doubled by April 30. Your gift to CSUSM men’s and women’s basketball will fund scholarships that attract top recruits, retain our best Cougars, and help our student-athletes thrive.
