Former District 2 Vista Councilmember Joe Green brought his high-energy personality to the outdoor patio area of Belching Beaver in Downtown Historic Vista on Thursday as he sponsored a Kick-off Celebration for his campaign to win the race of Vista’s Mayor in the 2026 election. Green was a Vista Councilmember from 2016-2024, taking some time off to prepare for the 2026 election. Present Vista Mayor John Franklin is one of three candidates running for the San Diego County District 5 Supervisor seat, currently held by Jim Desmond.

The Kick-off Campaign for Green was a festive affair, as Green spent time visiting with numerous individuals who came to show their support. The Kick-off event was sponsored by Belching Beaver’s CEO and Founder, Thomas Vogel, and his wife, Jennifer. Green’s wife, Jennifer, and his children also visited with those in attendance. Green also served for years as the president of the Del Norte PTA in the Vista Unified School District before becoming a City Councilmember.

Midway through the celebration, Joe took time to briefly outline some of the high points of his campaign. He said that Public Safety was a primary issue he wanted to stress and pointed out the support he has from the Vista Firefighters Association, a group of them in attendance and helping distribute Joe Green for Mayor t-shirts. Green said while on the city council, he had also developed a strong working and co-operation relationship with the Vista Sheriff’s Department that will ensure a successful Public Safety platform for our neighborhoods. Green said he wants to start a Public Safety Advisory Council as a way of reaching out and getting additional information of what is important to the citizens. Another point of emphasis is continuing to support both small and large business ventures in the city. Increasing assistance with small business owners is important for the economic growth of the city. Green also said that reliable infrastructure with improvements to road upgrades, stormwater improvements, solar installations at public facilities and working with other governmental leaders is important for the City of Vista.

Green is a lifelong Vista resident, a real estate broker at the successful Green Team Realty in Vista, a veteran of the politics of the City of Vista and has built relationships that will help “get thing done” in a timely and improved manner. He stressed his No Party Preference registration is important as he wants to work with people with numerous political affiliations to get the job done for the city.

One of the purposes of the Kick-off event was to also raise donations for his campaign. If you are interested in supporting Joe Green for Mayor of Vista go to www.JoeGreenForMayor2026.com.
