Oceanside High School recently celebrated an incredible student achievement. S’aniah Murphy-McDonald, a photography student at OHS, was selected as the top winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition for California’s 49th Congressional District.
Congressman Mike Levin announced S’aniah as the winner during a special event at the Oceanside Museum of Art. In recognition of this outstanding accomplishment, she received a $500 prize and two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C. to attend a ceremony in June honoring student artists from across the country.
As the district winner, S’aniah’s artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol building for the next year, representing our region on a national stage.
This is a tremendous honor and a reflection of S’aniah’s creativity, talent, and hard work. Her award-winning piece is also on display at the Oceanside Museum of Art for the next month alongside other student artwork from across the region.
We are incredibly proud of S’aniah for this remarkable accomplishment and for representing Oceanside High School and OUSD with excellence.
