A suspect is in custody in connection with a carjacking in San Marcos.
On Thursday, May 20, just after 9:00 p.m., deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station were flagged down by a man in the parking lot of the Old Spaghetti Factory located in the 100 block of N. Twin Oaks Valley Road. The victim reported a man demanded his vehicle and threatened to shoot him if he refused. The suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle.
Deputies quickly determined the suspect’s last known direction of travel and notified local law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout.
A short time later, deputies from the Valley Center Sheriff’s Substation spotted the stolen vehicle driving along Pala Temecula Road near Aruba Road in Pala. Before deputies could initiate a traffic stop, the suspect fled from the vehicle into the brush.
