Our mission has been to cultivate the relationship between students and our community. We empower through the success of our partnerships. We support our recipients with scholarships to help them reach their goals and strengthen our local communities.
The evening will begin with a warm welcome and opening remarks from Bill de la Fuente, setting a celebratory, community-focused tone. Guests will enjoy a delicious dinner provided by Rancho Grande El Toro, a favorite in the City of Vista. The pledge will commence the ceremony, followed by the swearing-in of new board members, showcasing the foundation’s ongoing growth and dedication to supporting education.
Educators will deliver heartfelt keynote speeches. Share intimate family photos and stories that highlight the impactful lives and legacies of their journey as distinguished Mexican-American educators, historians, politicians, and diplomats. In recognition of Dr. Nava’s significant contributions to education and civil rights, a scholarship will be announced to inspire future generations.
A presentation of the “Estrella de La Comunidad” will be awarded to LuMay along with a life time achievement award to Mani Alvarez
Scholarships will be awarded to ten students in two categories: AVID and Migrant Education. Each of the scholarship recipients are from local north county high schools in Escondido, Oceanside, Vista, Fallbrook, Bonsall, and San Marcos.
The seven AVID scholarship recipients completed the AVID curriculum, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, a specialized program focused on college preparedness. The recipients will be:

The event recognizes the vital contribution of local Latino-owned small businesses that significantly support the scholarship funds. Bill de la Fuente will personally acknowledge the businesses.
