Oceanside Police Department confirmed Tuesday that it has paused its official search for missing Oceanside woman Angelica Brophy following days of extensive efforts in the #PalomarMountain area. Volunteers, however, continue to search for the missing nurse and mother of two.
Brophy, 44, was reported missing on July 6 after she failed to return home and did not report for her scheduled shift at a local hospital. Investigators later determined she was last seen leaving Harrah’s Resort Southern California in Valley Center before driving alone to Palomar Mountain State Park, where her vehicle was found abandoned several days later.
Over the past two weeks, search efforts near Doane Valley Campground have involved multiple agencies, search-and-rescue personnel, K-9 teams, drones, divers, and numerous volunteers who combed trails and surrounding terrain in hopes of locating Brophy. Despite the extensive operation, no significant leads have been publicly announced.
OPD said Tuesday that the department has reached a point where all available search-and-rescue resources have been utilized and that the official search effort is now paused. The investigation remains active, and the department says it remains committed to supporting Brophy’s family throughout the process.
An OPD spokesperson also confirmed the department will coordinate with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office and California State Parks personnel later this week to determine the best path forward. Chief of Police Taurino Valdovinos said during a July 14 news conference that there is no evidence of foul play, adding that detectives will continue investigating all available leads until Brophy is located.
