ESCONDIDO, Calif. — July 23, 2026 — Mosaic Theatricals is marking its third anniversary as an independent nonprofit with the announcement of its 2026–2027 MainStage Season, a new resident theatre season partnership with the Bornemann Theatre at the TERI Campus of Life, and an expanded slate of community programming.
Since becoming an independent nonprofit in 2023, Mosaic has grown into a year-round professional theatre organization serving North County through professional productions, arts education, workforce development, and community engagement.
A New Home on the Bornemann Stage
For this season, Mosaic Theatricals is proud to be a resident theatre company at the Bornemann Theatre on the TERI Campus of Life in San Marcos, establishing a home for its 2026-2027 MainStage productions. The partnership expands access to professional theatre in North County and deepens Mosaic’s collaboration with TERI on shared community programming.
Mosaic will continue to maintain administrative offices in Escondido and remains committed to its longstanding community partnerships, including year-round student arts enrichment programming with the Escondido Union School District (EUSD) and its Cabaret series at Vintana Wine + Dine, which continues through October.
The 2026–2027 MainStage Season
Presented at the Bornemann Theatre, the new season ranges from the chance encounters of Odds Are to the raw wit and heart of Falsettos to the timeless songs and friendship at the center of Always…Patsy Cline.
Odds Are October 2 – October 18, 2026 An award-winning autobiographical play about love, loss, and luck. Performed by playwright Smita Russell with live cello accompaniment, Odds Are blends mythology and medicine, math and memory to explore the stories we tell ourselves to survive and the ways we search for meaning when dealt an impossible hand. This world premiere production comes to Mosaic following a celebrated run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it was named Best of Fringe 2025 by The Times, and a Grand Prize win at New York City’s United Solo Festival. Directed by Katherine Wilkinson, the original production was produced by Tony Award-winning producer Lee Seymour (The Inheritance) and co-producer Shinzong Lee (NBCUniversal, Paramount).
Falsetto
Falsettos April 16 – May 2, 2027 William Finn and James Lapine’s Tony Award-winning musical about family, love, loss, and finding connection in unexpected places. Set against the emergence of the AIDS crisis, Falsettos follows Marvin as he attempts to unite his ex-wife, son, psychiatrist, and new partner, Whizzer, into one unconventional family. Told with humor, honesty, and an unforgettable score, this moving musical explores Jewish and queer identity while celebrating love in all its complexity.
Always... Patsy Cline July 16 – August 1, 2027 A heartfelt celebration of one of country music’s most beloved voices, featuring Patsy Cline’s timeless songs and the friendship that inspired the story. Based on Cline’s true friendship with devoted fan Louise Seger, this intimate musical tribute features classics including “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” and “Walkin’ After Midnight.” Blending humor, heart, and unforgettable music, Always… Patsy Cline celebrates friendship and the enduring legacy of an incomparable artist.

A New Outdoor Concert Series
As an evolution of the popular music series that has been a beloved staple of Mosaic’s offerings, this year an outdoor concert will take the stage at TERI Inc.’s elegant Central Park, creating an upscale yet intimate outdoor experience. The lineup will feature their popular annual Motown Tribute in addition to popular touring acts that are soon to be announced.
Leadership for the Next Chapter
As part of a succession plan approved by the Board of Directors, Mosaic announced the appointment of Dr. Tom Abruzzo as Executive Artistic Director. Having helped shape the organization’s artistic programming, educational initiatives, and community engagement, Tom will lead Mosaic’s artistic vision while overseeing its growth as a producing theatre company.
Following three years as Executive Director, Julianna Crespo will transition into an advisory role with Mosaic, continuing to support the organization through strategic planning, philanthropy, and organizational development. Crespo has accepted the position of Arts Center Manager for the City of Chandler, Arizona, where she will lead the Chandler Center for the Arts, one of the Southwest’s premier municipal performing arts centers. Her appointment, announced separately by the City of Chandler, reflects the next chapter in a career dedicated to strengthening the role of the arts in building vibrant communities.

I’m incredibly proud of what our staff, Board, artists, and supporters have accomplished over these past three years as an independent nonprofit through responsive, community-informed programming, and I have complete confidence in Dr. Tom Abruzzo’s ability to lead Mosaic’s artistic vision into the future.
It has been one of the greatest privileges of my career to work alongside the passionate leaders, artists, educators, donors, volunteers, and community organizations that have shaped Mosaic’s journey,” said Crespo. “What began with listening to our community through conversations and surveys as early as 2016 grew into a shared vision that resonated with so many people. I’m deeply grateful to our co-founders, our inaugural Board members, our founding donors and partners, and every individual who shared the belief that theatre could be more accessible, more representative of the communities around us, and that artists and arts professionals deserved more pathways to build meaningful careers.
While I will always cherish being part of Mosaic’s story, the greatest measure of success is knowing the organization is prepared to thrive well beyond any one individual. I begin my next chapter with immense gratitude, confidence in its future, and excitement for the impact this work will continue to have on our community for years to come.”
The transition is the result of a strategic plan the Board began developing as Mosaic approached its third anniversary as an independent nonprofit, allowing the organization to move from founding leadership to its next chapter while its artistic and administrative foundations are strong.

While we will certainly miss her daily leadership, we are incredibly proud that she has accepted an exceptional executive leadership opportunity that reflects the remarkable talent and professionalism she has demonstrated throughout her tenure. We are equally grateful that she will continue to support Mosaic Theatricals in an advisory capacity during this transition.
The Board has complete confidence in Dr. Tom Abruzzo as he assumes the role of Executive Artistic Director. This transition has been intentional, strategic, and carefully planned, ensuring organizational continuity while positioning Mosaic Theatricals for continued growth and success. Dr. Abruzzo has played an integral role in shaping the artistic vision and organizational culture of Mosaic, and he is exceptionally well prepared to lead the organization into its next chapter.

Julianna leaves Mosaic Theatricals stronger than she found it, and because of the foundation she helped build, we look to the future with great optimism.
