On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a volunteer Search and Rescue team found human remains in an embankment near the 33000 block of South Grade Road in Pauma Valley.
At this time, the remains are not believed to be Oceanside missing person Angelica Brophy.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Office is in contact with the Oceanside Police Department. The Oceanside Police Department are in communication with the Brophy family.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Homicide unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing.
At this stage of the investigation, there is no known threat to the community.
