An investigation into North County street gang activity has led to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of illegal firearms.

Beginning in July 2026, Sheriff’s Detectives assigned to the Vista/North Coastal Street Narcotics and Gang Team developed intelligence regarding the Vista Home Boys Criminal Street Gang. During the investigation, detectives identified Sean Harvey (DOB: 12/20/2002) as a person of interest after he was seen associating with several documented gang members and in possession of firearms.

After further investigation, detectives established probable cause to believe Harvey was harboring unregistered firearms and weapons with defaced serial numbers at his home. A search warrant for Harvey’s home was obtained.

On Wednesday, August 12, detectives served the search warrant at Harvey’s home in Carlsbad. During the search, detectives recovered two firearms along with associated ammunition.

One of the firearms had its serial number intentionally defaced and rendered unreadable.

Detectives also found a substantial amount of gang writings and other indicia throughout the home, linking the suspect to the Vista Home Boys Criminal Street Gang.

Harvey was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on multiple weapons violations.

The Vista/North Coastal Street Narcotics and Gang Team remains committed to proactively identifying and investigating gang-related crime to ensure the safety of North County communities.
