CARLSBAD, Calif. (August 2026) – The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with Carlsbad community leaders to launch the Carlsbad Family-Friendly Certified Program, a new initiative designed to recognize businesses that create welcoming environments for parents, young children, and caregivers.
The program was presented during July’s City of Carlsbad Economic Development Subcommittee meeting, where the committee voted to move forward with a Quarter 1 pilot program.
Administered by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, the voluntary, no-cost certification program provides businesses with a framework to evaluate and enhance family-friendly features within their operations and physical spaces. Participating businesses will complete a self-assessment and earn one of three certification levels: Pathway, Certified, or Gold, creating a clear roadmap for continuous improvement.
As part of the pilot, approximately 20 businesses across seven industry categories will participate in testing the certification process, providing valuable feedback to refine the program before a broader community rollout.

Developed by key community leaders, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to supporting families while strengthening the local business community. By highlighting businesses that intentionally serve caregivers and children, the program aims to enhance Carlsbad’s reputation as a family-friendly community and encourage best practices across a variety of industries.
Following the pilot, the Chamber and city leaders will evaluate participant feedback and explore opportunities to expand the program throughout Carlsbad and potentially serve as a model for communities across California.
