Male Arrested After Bank Robbery

Investigators say the suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller provided an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect, and he fled the area on foot.

On Thursday, August 27, 2026, at around 9:19 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a robbery in progress at the U.S. Bank located at 1678 S. Mission Road in Fallbrook.

Deputies quickly searched the surrounding area and located some personal property belonging to the suspect in the parking lot of the Roadway Inn. Deputies focused their search efforts within the complex and located the suspect in the lobby. Thirty-four-year-old Gabriel Garza was detained without incident. Deputies recovered evidence linking Garza to the robbery, and several witnesses positively identified him.

Garza was arrested on suspicion of robbery and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. Fallbrook Area Detectives, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, are continuing the investigation.
