The City of San Marcos is breaking ground on Fire Station 5, marking a major investment in the city’s public safety and emergency response.
The new station will be located at the southeast corner of N Las Posas Road and Armorlite Drive and become the city’s fifth fire station. The new fire station is made possible by Measure Q, a 1-cent sales tax approved by voters, to support keeping San Marcos clean, safe and well-maintained.
The new station will help improve emergency response times and enhance fire and emergency medical services for the community. It is designed to strengthen public safety in the surrounding area while supporting the city’s long-term public safety needs.
Assemblymember Dr. Darshana Patel will also present a ceremonial check to the City of San Marcos highlighting $1.2 million in state funding for a new fire engine, which will be housed at the new station.
Together, the new fire station and fire engine represent significant public safety investments in both the city’s physical infrastructure and the equipment first responders rely on to respond to emergencies across the community.
The San Marcos Fire Department is a Class 1 full-service department serving the City of San Marcos and the San Marcos Fire Protection District, covering 33 square miles and approximately 95,000 residents. The Fire Department provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services, fire prevention and vegetation management to the San Marcos community.
