Homicide Arrest – Vista

On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at approximately 3:15 a.m., deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an injured person in the 1400 block of E. Vista Way in Vista. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male suffering from traumatic injuries. Deputies immediately initiated lifesaving measures and requested emergency medical personnel, who arrived shortly thereafter.

Despite these efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sheriff’s Homicide Unit detectives assumed responsibility for the investigation.

On the evening of Friday, October 2, 2026, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18‑year‑old Jonathan William Badillo of Vista in connection with the murder. He was taken into custody in the 3800 block of Helix Street in Spring Valley and subsequently booked into the San Diego Central Jail on a charge of murder.

Badillo is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the North County Superior Court.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

This remains an active investigation. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence to determine the circumstances and motive behind the incident.
