With Halloween and Día de los Muertos just around the corner, the State Street Farmers Market has everything you need to bring a little seasonal spirit home. Join us today, Wednesday, October 28, from 2:30-7 PM in downtown Carlsbad Village for fresh fall finds, festive touches, and easy meal ideas for the busy weekend ahead.
Start with the seasonal essentials! Maldonado Growers will have carving pumpkins ready for Halloween, while Madeline at Maciel Family Farm will have beautiful orange marigolds, a flower traditionally used in Día de los Muertos celebrations to honor and remember loved ones. They’re a colorful addition to seasonal arrangements and home displays.
With a weekend full of festivities ahead, the market is also a great place to get dinner plans out of the way. Pick up handcrafted New Zealand-style pies from Angus Pie Co., take-and-bake pizzas from La Pinsa Mia, or fresh tamales from Cocina de Tamales. You’ll also find soups, chili, curry, and artisan pasta, including traditional, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Fall produce is plentiful, too, with crisp apples from Smit Farms, Fuyu persimmons from R&L Farms, and farm-fresh greens, carrots, peppers, and artichokes. For something sweet, look for pumpkin, apple, and pecan pies, brown butter pumpkin pecan shortbread, and new lemon blueberry macarons.
This is also the last market before the time change, so make the most of the extra evening daylight while it’s still here. Come stock up for the weekend, shop local, and enjoy a festive Wednesday afternoon in the Village. Winter hours begin next week at which time the market will close one hour earlier.
We’ll see you today on State Street between Grand Avenue and Carlsbad Village
