On 09-13-2018, at approximately 2200 hours, the Sheriff’s Department San Marcos Station received information related to a potential school threat circulating on social media sites related to San Marcos High School. Detectives responded and investigated the threat. Deputies maintained a heightened presence on the campus as the investigation continued on Friday, 09-14-2018. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a 9th grade student at San Marcos High School conspired with another juvenile that is not a student of San Marcos High School to post the threat in an attempt to create fear at the school. The student was taken into custody and the threat was determined to be a hoax. There are no ongoing threats to the campus at this time and the school day was not interrupted during the incident.
The Sheriff’s Deputies will maintain a highly visible presence on the campus throughout the day and into the evening for various campus activities.
