2018 General Election
In late July 2017 the Carlsbad City Council voted to create four districts that will be used to elect City Council members in the 2018 and 2020 elections. The City of Carlsbad was under a strict deadline to make this change or face a lawsuit challenging its at-large or citywide method of electing City Council members.
The offices of City Council District 1, City Council District 3 and Mayor are up for election or re-election in 2018.
