6th Annual Dine Out Escondido Jan 27-Feb 3 Restuarant Week

January 27, 2019 - February 3, 2019

“Dine Out Escondido!” Restaurant Week Celebrates Its Sixth Year
While continuing to benefit the North County Food Bank
January 27 – February 2, 2019

Visit Escondido’s 6th annual Dine Out Escondido! Restaurant Week (DOE) is happening January 27 to February 2 at over 30 fantastic restaurants in historic downtown and all around Escondido. Held in partnership with California Restaurant Month, this successful culinary tourism program runs during the last week in January. No tickets required, just show up, ask for the DOE special and make memories with friends and family.

Southern California residents and visitors will enjoy scrumptious specials from Escondido’s highly acclaimed chefs, restaurateurs, and eateries while savoring the diverse culinary flavors of Escondido by taking advantage of this opportunity to visit their favorite places and create new experiences. There are no menu restrictions to what each restaurant can offer, so the range of diversity provides something for everyone.

“With over thirty local eateries offering unique specials, our restaurant week gives everyone the perfect excuse to finally get out to that great restaurant they haven’t tried yet, all while giving back to kids’ programs at the North County Food Bank,” said Katherine Zimmer, tourism manager for the City of Escondido.

Continuing to support of the North County Food Bank, many Dine Out Escondido! restaurants are donating $1 of every special they sell during this week to the North County Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids Backpack Program. Last year DOE restaurants raised $2235, feeding twelve kids for an entire year. Zimmer added that she would like to double that number this year.

Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank CEO James A. Floros said, “We are very grateful to the restaurants that are supporting our North County Food 4 Kids Backpack Program through the Dine Out Escondido! campaign. Children on the program receive free meals at school during the week, but face hunger over the weekend when school meals are unavailable. Funds raised through Dine Out Escondido! help us provide weekend backpacks filled with food to elementary school children living in poverty.”

New to the program this year is the addition of DOE on the Kynbo restaurant app. Each restaurant is listed with their full menus as well as their DOE specials on this unique new foodie app.

About the Food 4 Kids Backpack program:
The North County Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids Backpack Program provides weekend backpacks filled with nutritious food to elementary school students living in poverty (Escondido’s Lincoln Elementary is in the program). Kids on the program receive free breakfasts and lunches at school Monday through Friday, but face hunger at home on the weekends.

The backpack of food they receive sees them through the weekend so they can return to school ready to learn on Monday. Food items include: peanut butter; beans and franks; ravioli or stew in pop-top cans; soup; fruit bars; cereal; tuna fish pouches; juice boxes; fruit cups; raisins; granola bars; shelf-stable milk; and macaroni and cheese. Currently, the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program serves 1,733 elementary school students at 37 schools in 11 school districts. To feed one child for the entire school year costs $200; for one month it costs $22, and for one weekend it costs $5.50.
