SAN MARCOS, Calif. – After a pair of 20-point performances and a victory at Humboldt State, Cal State San Marcos junior Darae Elliott has been named the CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 21-27. This marks the first career weekly award for the Inglewood native.
Elliott paced the Cougars in both road games, tallying 20 points to go along with a game-high nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in 32 minutes in Arcata. His 9-for-15 effort from the floor helped propel Cal State San Marcos to a 91-72 victory, the first loss of the season for the Lumberjacks on their home court.
He followed it up with a team-leading 20 point effort while shooting 64 percent in a loss at Chico State to wrap up the week.
Elliott and the Cougars are back from a four-game road swing for a home contest against Stanislaus State Saturday at 3 p.
