Interactive Workshops and Private Consultation Services Bridges the Gap Between Veterinarians, Pet Parents and Cannabis Products

OCEANSIDE, Calif., February 4, 2019 — The One Minute Cannabist (OMC), a consumer-focused cannabis education center, is pleased to announce two new services for pet parents. A new workshop –“Cannabis for Pets”– for consumers who want to learn more about Cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabis for their pets. Cannabis for Pets will be offered as a live webinar which may be attended in person or via webinar on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11am Pacific Time. In addition, OMC is now offering private cannabis for pets consultation services for those who prefer a more personalized approach.
With the proliferation of CBD and state legal cannabis products available in regulated and unregulated markets, consumers are finding themselves overwhelmed with information, both useful and of a contradictory nature. OMC’s services are dedicated to empowering consumers to make educated and informed decisions by imparting clear, accurate and easy to understand information.
The veterinarian led Cannabis for Pets workshop will cover what people need to know when giving their pets cannabis, the differences between cannabis plants, including industrial hemp, therapeutic hemp and cannabis (aka marijuana), what exactly Cannabidiol (CBD) is and how it is derived from the plant, the current legal status of cannabis and hemp in veterinary medicine, how cannabis works in animals, how to read product labels and best practices for using CBD and cannabis products for achieving desired results.
The cannabis for pets consultation service takes a deeper approach, both summarizing the workshop content and allowing for individualized questions and guidance.

“We’ve seen thousands of animals, our own included, benefit from the use of CBD and cannabis over the past decade,” said Robbin Lynn co-founder of One Minute Cannabist. “Combining our collective front-line knowledge with the veterinarian community, we’ve developed these programs to provide accurate information and guidance for humans who want to explore the use of CBD or cannabis for their pets, but aren’t sure where to begin.”

The new services come at a time of growing acceptance of the cannabis plant across the nation both for humans and pets. The passing of the 2018 Farm Bill is bringing even more hemp based products -more-
into mainstream view across the nation. In California, AB2215 was signed into law in September 2018. This made it legal, for the first time in decades, that veterinarians may discuss cannabinoid therapies with their patients without fear of having their licenses suspended or revoked. However, it is anticipated that it will be a full year before the California Veterinary Medical Board (CVMB) develops the guidelines under which veterinarians may operate with respect to cannabis. Other states are still struggling to begin draft regulations, while others are simply doing nothing. This leaves consumers seeking guidance with few options as many veterinarians will first need to become educated on the endocannabinoid system, cannabinoid therapies, products and best practices for use.
