You are invited to the Annual Public Safety Night to meet Oceanside’s Safety Team.
Sunset Market will host its Annual Public Safety Night on February 7, 2019 from 5-830pm. Each year, Oceanside’s Safety Team provides a great event for the family. Personnel from the Oceanside Police, Fire, and Lifeguards present static displays of their equipment for the public to view and learn about. Each group will provide handouts outlining easy ways that individuals can be safe: at home, work or at play. Find out about volunteer and educational opportunities to learn or become part of your city’s safety team. Coloring books, stickers and hats may be some of the items that are handed out to guests that night at each of the locations throughout the market.
Returning by popular demand, the Remembrance Rescue Project will be returning to Public Safety Night for its third year. The Remembrance Rescue Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to historical preservation coupled with youth education in order to honor the 343 fallen FDNY firefighters and the thousands who continue to suffer today. The Project is a volunteer organization with firefighters from across the country donating their time to educate society, especially youngsters in a kid-friendly environment, so that they may understand the historical importance of 9/11 and how it is carried forward today. Founded in 2011, the Remembrance Rescue Project is a not-for-profit created by firefighters to restore and preserve items from 9/11 as educational tools, historical artifacts and memorials. The Project involving former FDNY Rescue 4 and Rescue 5 is an educational effort focused at society, especially youngsters who were too young to actually understand the events of September 11th and what that day means to members of the fire service and the country as a whole. The Project works with fire departments across the country to host the Rescues throughout the year. The Project coordinates with host fire departments to facilitate 9/11 educational programming, memorials and remembrance events. The Project strives to keep the memories alive of those lost on September 11th and all firefighters killed in the line of duty every year.
