On July 16, 2019, at approximately 4:37 p.m., deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s San Marcos Station, Traffic Division, responded to reports of a vehicle which had collided with a pedestrian at Nordahl Road on the westbound State Route 78 on-ramp crosswalk, in San Marcos.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it was determined a vehicle was making a right turn from Nordahl Road onto the westbound State Route 78 on-ramp. A pedestrian, in a wheelchair, rolled off of the sidewalk and fell from his wheelchair, being struck by the vehicle after he had fallen. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening, but serious injuries. The driver, a 39-year old woman, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
Alcohol was a factor in the collision on the part of the pedestrian. The San Marcos Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
