On September 26, 2019, at approximately 1925 hours, deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a report of an bicyclist vs. Amtrak Train collision. The collision occurred on the railroad tracks near Mile Post Marker 229.2 in the city of Carlsbad, Ca. A southbound Amtrak Train was traveling at approximately 63 miles per hour when an adult male rode his bicycle into the middle of the rail road tracks. The male struck the side of the train. The male was transported to Tri-City Hospital and later died at the hospital.
