SEATTLE – The Cal State San Marcos women’s track & field squad saw a school record fall as it began the 2020 indoor season at the University of Washington’s Indoor Preview on Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Clarissa Garcia broke the school record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.86 – nearly five seconds faster than the previous record posted by Heidi Swanson (2:19.72) in 2011.
Jax Heckers posted the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 3,000-meter run as she finished with a time of 10:17.14.
Ana Mercado tallied the second-best 600-meter time in program history at 1:42.59.
Luz Mercado posted the third-best 1,000-meter time in program history as she finished 12th with a time of 3:04.89.
Jenna Portis’ pole vault mark of 3.06 meters was the third best in program history.
Marina McDonough’s time of 5:07.67 in the 1-mile run was the third best in school history while Renee Laurenzana’s time of 5:21.93 was the fifth best.
Dymon Preyor’s mark of 5.03 meters in the long jump was the third best in program history.
Jasmine Porter put up the fifth-fastest 60-meter hurdle time in school history at 9.41.
Toni Ayala and Sierra Julian posted the ninth- and 10th-fastest 200-meter dash times in program history as Ayala finished in 27.30 while Julian finished in 27.47.
CSUSM finished up the day by posting the 10th-fastest 4×400-meter relay time in program history at 4:14.81.
