At tonight’s Vista City Council Meeting, the Council voted to replace the gym floor in the Jim Porter Recreation Center.
The Jim Porter Recreation Center was established in 1982 and is used extensively for Recreation & Community Services Department activities, including summer day camps, youth basketball and volleyball leagues, and pre-school programs. Additionally, the facility is rented for special events and to surrounding North County schools that lack gym facilities. The existing gym floor at the Jim Porter Recreation Center was installed in 2005, and has seen an increasing amount of use over the last several years. In October 2019, staff and flooring specialists determined that the 7200 square feet gym floor had exceeded its usable life and must be replaced.
The cost for the purchase of the floor replacement services is $111,950. Funds are budgeted and available in the Fiscal Years 2019/20 and 2020/21 Year-End Fund Balance Replacement Capital expense account.
