Sobriety/Driver’s License Checkpoint Results – San Marcos

Deputies of the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station conducted a driving under the influence and driver’s license checkpoint on
July 10, 2020 in the 100 block of W. Mission Road, in the city of San Marcos. Results of the DUI Checkpoint:
Total Cars through the Checkpoint: 258
Total Cars into the Checkpoint: 226
Cars Sent to Secondary for Evaluation: 23
D.U.I Evaluations: 1
D.U.I Alcohol Arrests: 0
D.U.I Drug Arrests: 0
Other Arrest : 0

In addition, there were 3 vehicles impounded for unlicensed driver, having a suspended driver’s license, and expired/fraudulent registration. There were 16 citations issued for being an unlicensed driver, driving on a suspended driver’s license, speeding, failing to stop at a stop sign and a registered owner allowing an unlicensed driver to drive their vehicle. The rider of small motorcycle fled the primary screening of the checkpoint and a short pursuit ensued. The motorcycle rider ran several red lights and the pursuit was discontinued. The rider was not located.
