Community’s Help Sought to Identify Robbery and Assault Suspects

The City of Carlsbad Police Department is seeking the community’s help to identify suspects or provide additional information about a robbery and assault that occurred on October 2.

On October 2, at around 9:30 p.m., two Hispanic male adult victims were running eastbound on Cassia Road just north of Poinsettia Lane when a vehicle pulled up behind them. The occupants of the vehicle began to yell ethnic slurs at the victims.

The vehicle stopped and five or six males wearing hoodies exited the vehicle and began to physically assault the victims. During the attack, a suspect demanded one of the victims give him everything in his pockets. The victim gave the suspect the contents of his pockets which included cash.

The suspects fled the scene in an unknown, possibly dark colored, vehicle.

As a result of the assault, both victims sustained injuries requiring hospitalization. One victim remains in the hospital and has undergone surgery for non-life threatening injuries.

If anyone witnessed the robbery and/or assault, or has any additional information about the incident, they are asked to call Detective Felix Salazar at 760-931-2148 or felix.salazar@carlsbadca.gov.
