Serafina lives with her Pa in the basement of the Biltmore Estate, staying out of sight during the day and only venturing out at night to go about her work of evicting rats
. The rich people upstairs don’t know she exists, and her Pa wishes to keep it that way. Serafina, though, is about to be drawn into an adventure. One night, she witnesses a terrifying man in a black cloak prowling the halls. She escapes, but in the days that follow, the children at the estate begin disappearing, and Serafina will have to work with Braeden Vanderbilt, nephew of the Biltmore’s owners, to put a stop to it.
