CSU San Marcos Business College Achieves Prestigious Accreditation

The Cal State San Marcos College of Business Administration has achieved accreditation from a prestigious global organization, joining the top 5% of business schools in the world.
CSUSM’s College of Business Administration was accredited last month by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Founded in 1916, the AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools, and the largest business education network connecting learners, educators and businesses worldwide. The AACSB maintains strict standards for its nearly 900 leading business school members, focusing on mission and strategic management; support for students, faculty and staff; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement of students and faculty.
“This AACSB accreditation will put the college on the map and open doors to collaborating with international partners across the globe and an exchange of students and faculty,” said Mohammad Oskoorouchi, associate dean of the College of Business Administration. “It is a very strong endorsement of all the things our faculty and staff do for our students. We were commended for our teamwork and collegiality across the college, engagement with the community, and our passion for helping students.
“I would like to recognize the college’s AACSB team, whose dedication and hard work in the past five years made this possible.”
Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB accreditation inspires new ways of thinking within business education globally. As a result, less than 6% of the world’s schools offering business degree programs hold AACSB business accreditation. Through the ratification last month, a total of 890 institutions across 58 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation in business.
“AACSB accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development and student learning,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB.

“We congratulate California State University San Marcos, Dean Jim Hamerly, and Associate Dean Mohammad Oskoorouchi on earning accreditation and applaud the entire College of Business Administration team —including the administration, faculty, staff and students — for their roles in earning this respected honor.”

AACSB accreditation ensures continuous improvement and provides focus for schools to deliver on their mission, innovate, and drive impact. AACSB-accredited schools have successfully undergone a rigorous review process conducted by their peers in the business education community, ensuring that they have the resources, credentials and commitment needed to provide students with a first-rate, future-focused business education.
“California State University San Marcos’ commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of their dedication — not only to their students, alumni network and greater business community, but to the higher education industry as a whole,” Bryant said. “Today’s students are tomorrow’s business leaders, and the addition of the College of Business Administration to the network of AACSB-accredited business schools will have a lasting positive impact for their institution, both locally and globally.”
