Vista City Manager Patrick Johnson has appointed Amanda Lee to the position of Assistant City Manager. Ms. Lee, who recently served as Assistant to the City Manager, will fill the position left vacant by Aly Zimmermann, who left to become a new City Manager in northern California. Lee has been with the City since 2013.

“Amanda has proven herself more than capable of handling responsibilities and oversight of complex projects in the past, and I am confident she will handle the challenges that come with this new position,” said Patrick Johnson. “Amanda has been actively involved with many aspects of our daily city operations and has earned my confidence, as well as the confidence of the other members of the City team, members in the community, and members of the City Council.”

Lee began working for the City of Vista as the Assistant City Clerk then transitioned to Redevelopment and Housing as a Management Analyst. In 2016, she became the City’s Housing Programs Manager, and was promoted to Assistant to the City Manager in 2019. Prior to the City of Vista, Lee worked for the State of California and in the private sector.

“I look forward to working in my new role with Patrick and our City team in continuing to build a strong future for the City of Vista,” said Amanda Lee. “My focus will be on building on our past successes and assisting to enhance the quality of life for the residents of Vista and in supporting the City Council’s goals and top priorities.”

Lee is a member of the Municipal Management Association of Southern California and holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Masters degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University. Lee and her husband enjoy traveling, music, and outdoor activities with their three children.
