Poway, CA: A group of concerned citizens of Poway would like to announce that they are holding a rally against The Poway Unified School District implementing Critical Race Theory (CRT). This rally will take place during the Board Meeting on Thursday June 3rd at 5:30 p.m., at
the District Headquarters of Poway Unified, 15250 Avenue of Science San Diego, CA 92128.
On June 25, 2020, the PUSD Board unanimously passed a Resolution entitled “Affirming Poway Unified School District’s Commitment to Fight Racism and Correct Systemic Inequity”. This occurred during the COVID19 Pandemic and during summer break when parents were not engaged in the conversation. Christopher Rufo, of the Discover Institute and expert on Critical Race Theory says,
“Critical race theory is an academic discipline…that holds that racism is the driving force in society, that in order to understand power relations, in order to understand institutions such as the law, education, the Constitution, [and] social relations, you have to understand that through the lens of race.”
The implementation of CRT is for political purposes not educational ones. The goal is to make kids feel guilty for the color of their skin and to ultimately become political activists and support this political agenda. Marian Kim Phelps, Ed.D., Superintendent of Poway Schools, in a letter to parents said, “All students should be treated with respect, compassion and equity in order to provide a positive school climate for all.” But the CRT curriculum does not teach respect, compassion and equity for every race. Complacency is not an option! We urge other concerned citizens to join us on June 3rd.
