Carlsbad’s City Manager’s Update

Yesterday the County of San Diego announced that we would, in fact, enter the yellow tier starting today. Granted, the entire colored tier system will go away next Tuesday, but it’s still a good sign that COVID-19 spread continues to decrease in our region.

Moving to yellow means some of our businesses will be able to increase capacities sooner than they otherwise would have. Bars that do not serve food, which have been closed longer than most any other business category, can now open indoors. Saunas and steam rooms at gyms can open, and spas and fitness centers can now open at hotels. Otherwise, most of the changes are related to maximum capacities. Here (and I think for the last time) is the color coded chart with all the rules.

What changes next week?
On June 15, new rules will go into effect statewide. The main changes are summarized below. The full memo is here. Here is a link to the face mask guidance.
