On July 24, 2021, approximately 1:34 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Vista Station, Traffic Division, and Vista Fire Department personnel responded to a serious injury vehicle collision in the 1000 block of Vale Terrace Drive, city of Vista.
Based on the preliminary investigation, a white Mazda sedan driving eastbound on Vale Terrace Drive at a high rate of speed, lost control and collided head on with a westbound Chevrolet Silverado. The driver of the white Mazda sedan, a 44-year-old male, was transported to Palomar Medical Center via ambulance. Despite medical intervention, his death was pronounced on July 24, 2021. The front passenger of the white Mazda sedan, a 44-year-old female, was transported to Palomar Medical Center via ambulance and is in serious condition.
The driver of the black Chevrolet Silverado, a 77-year-old male, was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla via ambulance for serious, not life-threatening injuries. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.
The Vista Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
