The Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary has named Bunny McElliott as the 2021 Volunteer of the Year
Bunny joined the Hospital Auxiliary in 2013 but her history with the hospital goes back much further. In fact, Bunny served as a Candy Striper at Tri-City Hospital when she was in high school—a position that prepared her for one of her current roles as Coordinator for the Auxiliary’s High School Volunteer Program.

Bunny also served in the critical role of heading up the phone bank team for TCMC’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic. Bunny and her team volunteered more than 850 hours over several months. This phone bank helped facilitate appointments for community members who were having difficulty accessing or using technology.

Additionally, Bunny serves as a Volunteer Patient Advocate, is current Second Vice President and is a member of the Scholarship Committee.

Congratulations to Bunny for this well deserved recognition!

Join Our Auxiliary!
Volunteers in the Hospital Auxiliary have been Serving, Caring and Belonging since 1958, over 60 years – even three years before the Hospital we now know as Tri-City Medical Center opened!

This all-volunteer organization exists to provide much-needed help throughout Tri-City Medical Center, from Shuttle drivers, Hospital Escorts, Information Desk Staff Registration Assistance to Surgery Aides and many other functions. Our members also stock and staff the Gift Shop, where proceeds go towards scholarships and needed medical equipment. They provide thousands of hours each year of invaluable staffing support that frees doctors, nurses, aides and other medical staff to concentrate their time on caring for patients.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Auxilians took responsibility for helping manage the COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic by providing escorts to the clinic facility, personnel to bring people into the vaccination stations and a clean-up crew who thoroughly sanitized all chairs and surfaces throughout the clinic.

New Auxilian volunteers are always welcome! An orientation session acquaints everyone with the volunteer process and matches volunteers with the department where their skills are best suited. Anyone interested in finding out more about this excellent volunteer opportunity can contact orientation@tcmc.com.
