On February 28, the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of smoke in the area 455 N. Quince Ave. Upon arrival, Firefighters discovered and quickly extinguished an encampment fire inside of the vacant warehouse building. There were no
injuries to firefighters or civilians and no damage to the structure. On March 5, the American Red Cross and the Escondido Fire Department participated in the “Sound the Alarm” event at two local mobile home parks which provided and installed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Our fire prevention team together with 47 American Red Cross volunteers installed 205 smoke and CO alarms throughout 70 mobile homes in Green Crest Mobile Home Park and Westwinds Mobile Home Park. The Fire Department be holding more
events with the American Red Cross in the near future to pursue the goal of having EVERY home in Escondido with working smoke and CO alarms!
