A known probationer has been arrested on drug and weapons charges in Vista.

On April 26 just before 7:00 a.m., deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station were on patrol in the 1000 block of Meadow Lake due to recent criminal activity in the area. That’s when deputies recognized a car belonging to a woman on probation for narcotics sales.

Deputies contacted Shelley Bates (DOB 10/31/1984) inside of her car and conducted a probation search. A small amount of narcotics and drug paraphernalia were located in the car. Deputies also found a loaded 9mm “ghost gun” on the passenger floorboard. The weapon had a suppressor (a.k.a. silencer) attached to the barrel.

Bates was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility for possession of a controlled substance while armed, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm silencer, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession of controlled substance paraphernalia.
