Fred Mozzani, 66, of Fallbrook CA, passed away on Monday July 11th after battling cancer for several years. He passed away in the comfort of his home and his final days were spent surrounded by family and close friends.
Fred was born on November 4, 1955, to Fred and Angelina Mozzani in Westchester PA. After graduating from Salesianum High School in 1972, he and his family moved to California where he started his journey in the restaurant business.
His first job was at the Butcher Shop Steakhouse in Chula Vista, he then worked several years for the DePhilippis family at their different Filippis restaurant locations, at the Escondido location is where he met his future wife and companion, Lynn Mozzani. In 1986, he decided to open his own restaurant – Mamas N Papas Pizza Grotto. He was passionate about what he did, the food he provided, the customers he served, and most importantly the employees he impacted and mentored along the way. He was a tremendous supporter of the community and frequently sponsored youth sports as well as donations to local charities and schools. The restaurant became a community favorite and lives on as his legacy.
Fred was an avid golfer and would frequently go on golf trips with some of his closest friends, he loved the game. He was an active member of the Optimist Club for over 30 years where they would support and sponsor the youth community. He was a loyal and loving friend and had a large network of friends that he would see and spend time with frequently.
His greatest accomplishment was being a devoted husband and father. Fred any Lynn had 2 children, Ashley Fernandez and Charles Kuschel. He always taught us to keep our word, live life honestly, and love our family to the fullest. He supported us all through the many accomplishments and difficulties in our lives. We were lucky to call him dad, he loved us more than words can describe and supported us in all that we did.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Mozzani, children and their spouses, Ashley and Joel Fernandez and Charles and Cherri Kuschel, sister, Krista Gutierrez and grandchildren, Hailee, Jacob, and Lauren Kuschel and Nixon and River Fernandez.
His services will be held on August 4th, 2022, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Fallbrook CA at 11am followed by a celebration of life at the Vista Optimist Club.
