On August 8, the Escondido Police Athletic League hosted its 11th Annual Teens vs. Police basketball game at the East Valley Community Center.The teenage PAL players took on the police officers (and some of their friends) in a very close game.
Al Owens brought the PAL game back after a three-year break. He did an amazing job and raised $9,000 to assist the family of nine-year-old Joshua Whitten. Joshua is a PAL player and was diagnosed with rare form of brain cancer. Acting Chief Cramer swore Joshua in as an honorary police officer before the start of the game.
It was a great day for the police, the players, Joshua, his family and the entire Escondido community. A huge thank you to everyone who helped with the event and a special thanks to Al Owens for all that he does for the community.
